Delta Zeta Tau (ΔΖΤ) Fraternity History

In the fall of 1992, a group of twelve students of Latino origin began discussions of creating an organization that would represent the needs and goals of the Latino population on the campus of California State University, Bakersfield; and to provide a sense of family to all of its members. The group of twelve felt there was no real venue of Latino expression on campus and thus La Hermandad was founded. DELTA ZETA TAU FRATERNITY is the longest-running Latino Fraternity on Campus. The purpose of Delta Zeta Tau is to enable, empower and enlighten undergraduate and graduate students of Hispanic and Latino descent by creating an organization that will promote greater unity for these students by means of educational, social, cultural, and political awareness. By creating this unifying organization for Hispanics and Latinos students at CSU, Bakersfield, it is necessary that an informational link be made with any educational, cultural, social, or political institution which the organization (DZT) deems qualified to carryout and perpetuated the purpose of this body and within the service area of this university or anywhere in the Continental United States or Nations of the Hispanic World. In order to support university programs and all types of the university curriculum, this can aid in the enhancement of education for Hispanic and Latino students at CSU, Bakersfield. The Delta Zeta Tau Fraternity (DZT) is a brotherhood of gentlemen looking out for one another and willing to help out a brother in need. The Alumni have now established the Delta Zeta Tau Alumni Foundation as an extension to the founding chapter and to focus on education, philanthropic events, and establish itself within the community.
